Your camping trip could be terrible if you do not take the right supplies with you. Be prepared before you set off, write a list and pack everything you will need. Camping is one of my favourite ways to spend a weekend, but starving out in the middle of nowhere while getting drenched in the rain all night is not.
nowadays you can get all the supplies you will need easily. Buying supplies on the internet is simple. No longer do you have to make a long haul to a camping supplies store, which are often few and far between.
It can be a fun experience going onto a camping store. First of all, you of course get a firsthand look at the camping equipment you are about to buy. What can look really nice on the computer screen might be poor quality in real life. Secondly, most of the larger and better camping supplies stores are staffed by people that know at least a little about camping.
When I first started camping, I bought all my camping supplies live in a store, just to get the advice of seasoned campers. If you have been camping for years you might know what you should and should not buy online. Now that I’m more confident with what I’m doing, I order everything online. You can use the good brands for the camping supplies but you might be able to find things much cheaper because they are not designed specifically for camping. Taking a single duvet cover with you can keep your sleeping bag clean.
knowing where to get your supplies from is the easy part, knowing what to take is where it gets tricky. This is harder to answer and depends on what kind of trip you are going to take. If you are going in your car take as much as you like, hiking with your supplies is harder. If there’s any doubt in your mind, just bring it, and with time you’ll get a feel for what you actually use and what you don’t. If you are hiking far with your equipment, take the reverse attitude. If there’s any doubt in your mind, leave it.
