Our eyes are frequently compared to our muscles and spectacles are frequently compared to “crutches”. A number of vision|eyesight “gurus” believe that by using spectacles, you impair your eye muscles and decay your vision|eyesight. Thus, they concluded, you have to perform eye exercises to “strengthen” them.
However is that correct?
Think about it. What’re the poor eyesight habits that make your eyesight to decay from the beginning? Staring and squinting in the dark makes your eye muscles to strain and tighten… if anything makes eyesight decay, it is not “wasted eye muscles”, it is strain!
The title “eye exercises” are really misleading. They’re in fact, more like “breathing exercises”. Eye exercises relaxes your eye muscles, not strengthen them! They achieve this by practising correct eyesight habits and when you perform them religiously, you will subconsciously obtain the ideas beneath them.
When you once again picked up proper eyesight habits, your eyes will by nature see sharply again. Glasses are poor not because it “impairs” your eye muscles… they are poor because they didn’t allow your eye muscles to unwind!
Similar to your other senses, vision is suppose to be effortless. You will not find yourself “trying” to listen, touch, smell or taste. Even if you plan to do so, you could not. That is the phase you’re aiming for: effortless vision! And it can only be obatined if you eliminate your spectacles and perform eye relaxation exercises. Needless to say, always make sure you put on your spectacles whenever you engage in dangerous activities like driving or crossing the road!
Having said that, you should also consider how not making use of glasses will influence your eyesight habit. Will it make you stare even more? If this is the case, you should consider purchasing glasses with 2 to 3 degrees lower than your prescription for vision improvement. This will enable you to see reasonably well but at the same time allows room for betterment.
